Sliding door film review. All come into focus as the two stories shift back and forth overlap and surprisingly converge. 6 time out described the film as essentially a romantic comedy with a nifty gimmick. This movie is most special for the way the two storylines overlap making this a very original movie. The movie stars gwyneth paltrow as helen a london publicity executive who is fired for no good reason and stalks out of her office in midmorning to take the underground train back home.
With a pleasing balance of romance comedy and drama sliding doors is an exceedingly original story that appeals to both the heart and mind. Gwyneth paltrow plays london publicist helen effortlessly sliding between parallel storylines that show what happens if she does or does not catch a train back to her apartment. Although gwyneth paltrow plays the same character in both aspects of the story both helens seem completely different. This film is a lightweight comedy drama with a unique story.
In the other she misses it because she s delayed and the doors slide shut in her face. Playing with alternate realities a woman s life takes two. This was before she became an object of scorn and outright hatred for many people a stance which tells more about their pettiness than anything about the actress. The flow of the story seems quite natural and the cast does a wonderful job going through the twists and turns of their characters lives.

Sliding doors is one of the best films that gwyneth paltrow has done. Containing fantasy elements reminiscent of groundhog day and it s a wonderful life this movie explores what would happen if a young british woman named helen gwyneth paltrow just barely caught the subway train traveling home after a difficult day and what would happen if she just missed the train. In one scenario she catches the train.
